I work at a small cafe where everything is starting to change. We are only allowed to be at half capacity and my boss is trying to do everything in her power to keep everyone employed. We have had 4 of our non essential workers laid off for the time being like our hostess and three of our workers that only do side work for 3 hours a week. We have also had 3 servers ask not to work so that they can self quarantine. There is also talk about restaurants closing the insides completely and only doing togos. The guidelines for restaurants are changing everyday. We are just waiting and preparing to change to only togo orders. On the other hand every customer that is coming into the restaurant is being very supportive and tipping very well understanding that people are in danger of losing their jobs. I got my first $100 tip, I was so grateful and all my other coworkers were doing very well with tips.

As my boss suspected all restaurants have to move to togo orders only. My boss is working with a lot of other local restaurants like Table 23 and Red Elephant and many others to start a “Rally for Tally”. “Tallahasseefoodies” is a facebook page that has thousands of followers that helped orchestrate this whole rally. The point of this rally was to encourage Tallahassee residents to help support local restaurants and order food. Us being a small business, was in desperate need of any support that we could get. Our parking lot was full the entire day and we were receiving crazy tips.

This was the second and last day for the “Rally For Tally” and we were just as busy as the day before. We even had to order a new phone for the restaurant so that we could take more orders at one time. It was amazing to see how many people supported use during this time.

The restaurant is still busy but seeing as the rally is over it has calmed down a bit. We have started wearing gloves and masks almost all day long when at work. I could never be in the medical field…. I can hardly breathe through the masks.

Classes are now online and I am contemplating dropping my STA’s class. Zoom meetings are going to be interesting.

All my teachers are being very supportive and showing an amazing amount of concern for all the students. It is very comforting to know that my teachers are on my side and trying to help in every way. Work is still crazy and we are still getting used to it.

My step dad had half of one of his lungs removed a little over 6 months ago and many other health issues in the past and recent. This means that my mom does not allow him to leave the house and he hates it.

I have decided to drop my statistics class so that I don’t fail. It is hard to find motivation to do school work when you are not in class.
