Veterans village is a great service program that my teacher has set up. What we do is, we give all sorts of food to a specific type of community. All of us classmates will either bring in soda, pizza, cake, cookies, all types of foods and little snacks. On top of that after they grab a plate towards the end i give out goodie bags. These bags contain chips, peanuts, water, and we give a bag out to every person that came.
A lot of people say they like to help out. Me helping my fellow classmates out and not only them but to help and feed a whole entire community is a great feeling. When you leave you have this great feeling that you not only helped a bunch of people today but you also are a better person. My core values were to show up and do whatever was needed. This was not only a great experience for me but i will be able to tell all my friends to come and join us sometime.
To make other people aware of what your doing, all would do is bring them with me. Its only 30 minutes of their day and your doing something positive for the community. I personally met 3 of my fellow classmates, and now we happen to be good friends. Not only are you doing something good, you're meeting new people, making new connections.
