Life is such a precious gift and one should never take it for granted. In today’s society the value of life is viewed based off the position you hold. Among many of our social issues is homeless veterans, after offering their best duty to our country at a time when it is most dire many veterans come home with no home, jobs, or healthcare. Thank God for safe havens such as the Veterans Village where veterans are able to transition back into society normally.
I had the pleasure of serving dinner and fellowshipping with a few of the residence at Veterans Village. Many with smiles on their faces and open hearts despite their circumstances enjoyed great conversation over a hot meal and sweet treats to follow. It’s such a humbling experience to pour back into a community of men who have selflessly given themselves to our country.
Giving back should be a cardinal rule in life, I believe that it teaches you life lessons and opens your eyes to self reflect on the things we take for granted. While we consider ourselves to be privileged and have the things we want and desire, there are many people right in our community that can’t afford the bare necessities. It takes nothing from you to give back to the least of these, however you do gain purpose in life.
