“When autumn darkness falls, what
we will remember are the small acts of kindness: a cake, a hug, an invitation
to talk, and every single rose. These are all expressions of a nation coming
together and caring about its people.” Veterans village was an interesting time
and yet it was a meaningful one on my first time being apart of something like
that. When I went two Thursdays ago, I had gone and brought mixed fruit cups!
Now veteran’s village sounds self-explanatory and I knew they would appreciate
pretty much anything tasteful we give them, so I was like hell I hope they like
these nice fruit cups I gave them!
My people skills and engaging
were a big part of the whole experience, it was the whole experience. I say
that because yes, we are providing food for them for one day out of the
two-week period and they look forward to that. But its not really the food you
give them it Is really the look on your face when you talk to them and shake
their hand and let them know that you appreciate the hard years in their life,
they served for you. It was interesting I talked to a few of them and got to
know them and was surprised that some of them were from Florida and Panama City
an area where I am very familiar with and have many of my family members
around.
Thank you Dr. Soldani for this
experience I can honestly say I like helping people in ways I can if possible,
but this was a great experience. It made me feel good inside only to know that
I did the right thing and not only was it for to help my grade, but it really
did make me feel good to help those guys out during this time. I highly
recommend anybody that wants to do something good for people that would be very
appreciative of help. You should go to the veteran’s village in Tallahassee its
an awesome time great laughs, and remember if they give you the bell don’t
forget to yell “Woohoo!”
