“When
autumn darkness falls, what we will remember are the small acts of kindness: a
cake, a hug, an invitation to talk, and every single rose. These are all
expressions of a nation coming together and caring about its people.” - Jens
Stoltenberg
The
second time I went to the village I had my mom come with me and she helped by
bringing / making homemade red velvet cakes. And once setting the cakes in the
room I assisted Dr. Soldani in bringing things up to the room. This time I felt
more comfortable, like I knew what to do and helped others who hadn’t been
before.
This experience in helping the
veterans really brightened my day. This time seeing how big their smiles were
once they saw the red velvet cake and it was home made. It just really brings
me joy to help others. Any time I do a good deed it makes me want to do more
and I would like to continue helping with the veteran’s village even after I am
out of Dr. Soldani’s class. My mom even
wants to get involved and help. This is such an amazing thing and I am glad I
could be part of it. And I hope that it touches those students who also did it
so Dr. Soldani does not have to do it alone. And I hope one day we can find homes
for all the veterans there.
