While a Veterans
Village Dr. Soldani gave me the all important task of cutting the cake and
passing it out to the veterans . Although it sounds like a simple task I could
tell it really made a difference. It felt good to see that something I thought
was small could make an impact on someone’s day . I also made the incredible
mac n cheese that I hope everyone liked. It felt good to share a family recipe
with other people.
This experience helped me use my core values because I love
helping others. I used to volunteer a lot while in high school but when I came
to college it seemed like I didn’t have time or know who to help or volunteer
for. This gave me the opportunity to spend less than an hour of my day to help
a group of people and it felt amazing . It really showed me that all you have
to do is ask how you can help and you can really make a difference.
Other people should find ways to contribute because even if
doing something doesn’t seem like a big deal to you it can really make a
difference to someone else. Its important to help others because it can really
brighten someone up if they are going through a rough patch. Giving back also
helps the community and that community can help you if you are ever in need of
it . giving even a little of your time can make a big difference and its important
to give even if that’s all you have to give.
