“When autumn darkness falls, what we will remember on the small acts of
kindness: a cake, a hug, and invitation to talk, and Every single rose. These
are all expressions of a nation coming together and caring about its people.“ –
Jens Stoltenberg.
As implied by the “are you genuinely are you helping people
and spreading kindness and doing little things that people remember forever.
Being that I have a generous and kind personality I wanted to contribute to the
veterans village service. Upon attendance I supplied two trays of salad and
salad dressing to the veterans. As veterans poured in I helped pass out Sprite and Pepsi to make things easier for them. Addition to being a helping hand and read it and spoke to the
veterans asking how their day was and making sure that I wish them well as they
leave with their food and drinks. Towards the end I help fill up and pack up
the rest of the food so that veterans who did not come by will be able to get a
plate later.
Continuing on, I believe
that we all must help or give back in some way whether that is through services
or the giving of something meaningful. With the personality of a helper based
off the enagram test, I made sure that I showed as much hospitality as
possible. I believe that all people should strive to make the world better. I
believe I can make the world better by putting smiles with people faces. This
experience definitely put a smile on mine and the veterans faces. The skills I
have to be respectful and kind were meaningful because because it made them feel
appreciated.
In conclusion, people should find other ways to contribute to
the veterans. Services such as volunteering to help clean for disabled and
deserving veterans is a good way to appreciate veterans. Another way to contribute
is to interact with the veterans because some of them might need the company.
Another way to contribute is by taking them out so that can experience new
things in life and also as a small token of gratitude.
