“When autumn darkness falls, what we will remember are
the small acts of kindness: a cake, a hug, an invitation to talk, and every
single rose. These are all expressions of a nation coming together and caring about
its people.” -Jens Stoltenberg.
When I went to the veteran’s village,
I didn’t expect to see so many people like I did. It was very fun to see the
vets enjoying us coming to them. When I came, I served them their food and
sometimes helped them carry it back to their home. Many of the vets would often
say as they came and got their food “many people don’t come visit us so I’m
very happy that you guys came”. It felt very good to hear how much they appreciated
that we took our time to come help them out. Some of them were even funny they
made little joke as they came through to get their food.
Me helping the vets was very I would say
fun because some of them were kind of funny. I felt like I was doing a good
deed by helping them, helping the vets something I would most likely do again;
because seeing them so happy that somebody cared enough to actually take the
time out to help them made it more special. Me doing this taught me that you
should always give back to others; because you never know that the little
things that you do can really make someone feel really appreciated, and I see
that on the vets faces. I felt like I was helping them out in a way that their
families don’t, just to see there smile on there face was more than enough.
Other people should contribute more
because some of them can’t provide for their selves like they use to. So, I
think by them contributing more that will be a good help. Probably could make
this a every week thing instead of every other week, I know many of the vets
are disable so they can’t even do like they want to. Maybe even have food come
to them daily make it more of a thing so that they will know they are
appreciated and loved. Even though I think what we do know was good I do think
it could be better. Give out little vouchers for the food so they can take any
and everything that they want. I do think by have more people to participate it
could be a bigger event that it is, maybe spread the word around a little more.
