The Meaning of Soup.

So I decided to learn how to make chicken enchilada soup, more specifically, a knock-off of Chili's spicy cheesy chicken enchilada soup.

I had to roast chicken, dice onions and measure spices, then mix masa harina with water and add it to translucent onions and stir and stir and then add more things (secrets, ya'll!!! bribe me or go to chili's your choice) and top the whole thing with tiny crumbles of red and blue tortilla chips.

Two loads of dishes and a round of mopping later, the soup is cooling in the fridge and I'm grading (bloopers are posted on favorite is "Lincoln was a drunky") when Zack waltzes out of his room and wants MORE soup.

I give him more and he demands a hug then, of course, shows me the RIGHT way to hug.

I'm a quick learner and we hug it out.

While he is squeezing me Zack   tells me, "Proud of you for for being a Mom for once. And I mean that in a good way. Like, don't be insulted but good job."

When the hug finishes, he waltzes away and I'm left alone to contemplate the meaning of soup.
